Meet the unauthorized mage

A wizard nobody licensed

The Academy of Financial Sorcery threw away its failed spells. Runecoon collected them.

His wand is a bent antenna. His robe was once a conference banner. His spellbook is three rejected roadmaps stapled together.

None of it should work.

Somehow, that has never stopped him.

One spell. Three bad decisions.

Three-panel comic: Runecoon finds a discarded spell, casts it at a can, and insists the sideways result is not broken.

The first scroll

The vending machine incident

Runecoon was born beneath the loading dock of the Academy of Financial Sorcery. He learned magic by listening through an air vent.

At night, the academy discarded its failures: spells that reverted, prophecies that aged badly, cracked crystal balls, and whitepapers whose authors had quietly disappeared.

One night, he pointed a bent antenna at a dead vending machine. The machine opened a portal.

It was not the correct portal. It led to another dumpster. But that dumpster contained better garbage.

Runecoon has considered himself a wizard ever since.
